3 Reasons Why "Descendants of the Sun" is a Phenomenon

Let's take a look at the facts.

1. The drama has taken over China.

The drama has taken over China.

And we mean TAKEN OVER.

In the last couple of years, China's entertainment regulations have become more strict with foreign tv shows and dramas. Because Descendants of the Sun was finished filming long before it aired on television, it was able to be fully pre-produced according to China's guidelines.

This allowed the drama to be simultaneously aired in both China and Korea. Thus, the show has been hitting millions of views in China and is slowly taking over the country. (As you can see the government is now involved.)

2. This writer and actress combination.

This writer and actress combination.

The write of the drama is Kim Eun Sook, who also the write of other popular korean dramas such as The Heirs (2013), Secret Garden (2010), and Lovers in Paris (2004).

The leading lady of the drama is Song Hye Kyo, who was also the main actress in a classic Korean drama, the original phenomenon, Full House (2004).

3. SONG. JOONG. KI.

SONG. JOONG. KI.

Every couple of years a star is born in the form of a fresh, young, Korean leading man. There have only been three in the last decade or so: Rain in Full House (2004), Lee Min Ho in Boys Over Flowers (2009), and Kim Soo Hyun in My Love from the Star (2013). Now, we are lucky to have witnessed the birth of another star: Song Joong Ki.

2016 is definitely his year.
